Leonie Sacher read History at University College London graduating with Honours in 2001. Having spent two years gaining experience both working and travelling abroad, she went up to St Hugh’s College, Oxford University in 2003 to obtain her Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) in History. During her time at Oxford, Leonie was privileged to attend lectures hosted by Professor John Stein, one of the most distinguished and respected experts in the world in the field of Dyslexia research. His lectures inspired her and she was intrigued to learn and understand Dyslexia, its causes and the various ways in which it manifests itself in some people. As part of her PGCE course, Leonie wrote a dissertation which focused upon the variety of different ways in which Dyslexia can present in different people.
Leonie has taught in two comprehensives and three independent schools. Having qualified in 2007 to both teach and assess those with specific learning difficulties, she has been the SENCO in her two most recent positions. She has considerable experience of working with children who have a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities including Dyslexia, ASD, ADHD, Dyspraxia, Sensory Processing Disorder, General Anxiety Disorder, Speech and Language difficulties, Deaf/Hearing impaired, Visually impaired, physical difficulties and mental health difficulties.
